The NSW Government has announced multiple forms of relief for landholders since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. If you missed out on land tax relief in 2021, you may be eligible to receive a landlord hardship grant. Find out more.
If you have provided your tenants with rental relief, you may be eligible for a NSW commercial landlord hardship grant. Recently, the state government announced an extension to this grant program, which covers the period 14 January to 13 March 2022.

The grant relief is up to $3,000 per month, per property. To be eligible, you must:

  • be a landlord of a property in NSW
  • have provided rental relief to your tenants between 13 July 2021 and 13 March 2022
  • have total land holdings valued at $5 million or less as at 31 December 2020 (excluding your main residence), and
  • have more than 50% of your total income from rent receipts in either the 2019–20 or 2020–21 income year.

There are 3 different tranches that you can apply for relief. These are:

  • 1 August to 14 November 2021
  • 15 November 2021 to 13 January 2022, and
  • 14 January to 13 March 2022

Please note that if you received NSW land tax relief for rent waivers between 1 July and 31 December 2021, you are not able to get the grant payments for the first 2 time periods.

Applications for grant payments for the first time periods will close on 31 March 2022. You will have up to 31 May 2022 to make an application for the other time frames.

The NSW Government has stated that the grant payments will be made as a lump sum payment to applicants for each tranche.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any question or require our assistance in applying for this grant.
